EXTRA LIFE Nov 3rd and 4th
GAMER’S HAVEN proudly sponsors
EXTRA LIFE – An in-store Charity Event
From the Extra Life website:
“On an Autumn Saturday each year since 2008, tens of thousands of gamers have joined together to save the lives of local kids in a celebration of gaming culture that we call Extra Life. From console games to tabletop RPG's to even lawn sports, Extra Life gives people that love to play a chance to do what they love to save lives and make a difference.
Originally designed as a 24-hour marathon of gaming, Extra Life has evolved to mean different things to different people (though most of our participants still attempt the marathon).
To participate you need only sign up (free) and gather the support of your friends and family through tax-deductible donations to your local CMN Hospital. Then on Saturday, November 4, 2017 (or any day that works for you!) play any game(s) you want on any platform(s) that you want with anyone you want for as long as you want.
The proceeds from Extra Life stay where they're raised to support children's hospitals.
Since 2008, our incredible players have raised more than $30 million dollars, $9 million of which was raised in 2016 alone!”
When: Nov 3rd and 4th (Friday and Saturday), 10AM to 10PM each day. 24 hrs total.
Where: Gamer’s Haven, 5730 Academy Blvd N, Colorado Springs, CO 80918
What: Play card games, board games, miniatures games, and-or role-playing games for the duration.
How: Sign-up at the Extra Life website here https://www.extra-life.org/ . Get friends and family to sponsor you. Remember to sell it as a challenge, like a walk-a-thon only for gaming. When you have your sponsors and are sure of your participation, sign up at the Gamer’s Haven counter so we know how many to expect.
The back room has a limited number of tables, so if you can, plan your games to a set schedule needing a set amount of seats and table space. We’ll map out space and time for everyone on a first come-first served basis (though reserve the right to prioritize larger donor potential for space. Charity money talks!)
THIS IS NOT A CONVENTION EVENT – please do not sign-up for space unless you are actually registered, and sponsored. Otherwise, you are taking space from someone actually supporting the charity!
Friday Night will still host Magic: The Gathering and Warhammer 40K games. If you will not be playing either of those between 5 and 10 that evening, there will be two special coordinated events just for Extra Life Gamers – One RPG and one Boardgame (details to come!). All other tables will be filled. If you are not interested, or cannot get a seat for those times, you are welcome to game in any other venue, and count it towards the overall event!
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions.
For Registration, I’ve set up a Team named “Gamer’s Haven” with a stated Goal of $4000. That reflects a hope for 40 participants at $100 in pledges each. Ambitious, but you have to aim high! Search for the Team during registration, and join!
ALL PROCEEDS WILL BENEFIT CHILDREN”S HOSPITAL COLORADO
