So a LAV, a TOW mounted Hummer, and an M60. Marines being brought into the mix.

RUMINT is that this is not the final cover.  Also, according to people who talked to BF staff at HistoriCon this year is that while the M60 is in, the M2/3 Bradley will not be in Stripes (for some reason not given).

Not a whole lot of stuff left to add then. Chaparral? Apache?

Bradley should be a major component.

M60, Hummers, Sgt York AA, maybe the Chaparral, maybe maybe MLRS.  No Apaches. not the right era.  I know a lot of people are not happy with the no Bradley rumors.  One can only hope BF listens and gets them ready and in the book, but I'm sad to say I'm doubtful.

Sgt york was never operational.

Apaches were in service in 84 but not an operational unit till 86. So other then a couple piecemeal units like the hummer, m60, and chaparral I don't know what else they can offer.

I know the York never got in service, but BF has stated they are including it in Stripes as a needed boost to USA AA and justify it in the fluff as a what if Congress had backed it due to the rising tensions, etc..  As for the Apache, that hits the major debate that rages every week on the BF forums about the T-80 and "in service" vs "operational."  Based on comments I've seen, we'll see the AH-64 when we see M1A1s and T-80s....and apparently also M2/3s.

Forget the York and give me a Chaparral.

Once you start putting hypotheticals in the game it gets cheesy in my opinion.

You do that then you get the Apache complaint. Which brings every prototype weapon out of the closet. But I know they want to sell models. So give me Bradleys and keep the York. Maybe they should start focusing on dismounted weapons and infantry. A dismounted TOW can smoke a main battle tank and a helicopter. Plus I love crunches. 🙂 Might be why I have 35 BTRs.

From what I'm hearing about discussions had a HistoriCon a few weeks ago, Stripes will have Marines in it, with LAVs, Hummers, and M60s.  While the York and Chaparral were mentioned, BF said no Bradleys or Apaches.

They've said that TY will have an 'era' system like FoW, with Early being the 60s-70s, Mid being the 80s-90s, and Late being post-2000.  They didn't confirm but hinted that we'd get Bradleys when we got M1A1s, T-80s, Apaches, and what.  BF has also said they will not be doing gun teams and the like for TY, since they want to focus on the 'mobile combat of modern warfare.'  So no ATGs, no mortars, no towed arty.

No idea when this well all go down, but Stripes is do out later this year, but with no M3s, I know I'll be running my Soviets mostly.

Luckily I have M60s, Hummers, and Chapperals

Any word on the French?  I am starting to get some french 15mm models to build out my NATO forces.  Have WGerm and Brits already.

LAVs will be cool, easy mod to make them into Strykers if they really go with the Era system.  But putting slat armor on them will be a real PITA

Agree on the dismounted TOWs.

Even on the M901 ITVs we had the tripod and launch tube and would practice dismounting it.  Its been 30+ years, but I believe during the day you could still use both systems.  The ITV had the day sight and you would use the AN/TAS4 night tracker on the dismount.  I dont know if the AT company had the folks to run dual ops, but in the Scout Platoons we had 113&901 pairs.  I remember setting up an AA ambush where we had the ITV, a dismounted tube, and the M47 all set up.

RUMINT is that the French/Canadians/Aussies are on the line up for next year's (2018) TY releases, since the Soviets and USA will be covered for the moment.

I plan to pick up Stripes either way, but I'll probably keep running my 10th Guards Tank Division Soviets for the foreseeable future.
