It looks like the next TY book will indeed be Red Thunder, due out in early July.  BF posted a new pre-order page on their site for the new Soviet stuff (linked below).  Highlights being (in my opinion) T-64s, SA-8s, new arty and ATG units, and plastic infantry!  New army box looks like it will have T-64s and BMP-2s.

I'm looking forward to seeing the stats of the T-64 and SA-8s and running them all this winter when I head back to CO for my traditional winter visit.

Update, since it won't let me edit my last post.

Red Thunder will include:

-Background on the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany, 94th Guards Motor Rifle Division, 18th Guards Motor Rifle Division, and Yuri Volkov’s Tank Battalion.

- Instructions on how to build a T-64 Tank Battalion, BTR-60 Motor Rifle Battalion, BMP Motor Rifle Battalion, T-72 Tank Battalion, or Afgantsy Air Assault Battalion.

- Three Scenarios to test your skills with your Soviet force.

- A detailed painting guide to help you prepare your Soviets for combat.

So it looks like it will include updated lists from the core rulebook as well as the new units.  One can expect them to do the same for Stars & Stripes.  A good strategy to me help bring the first wave TY armies into the current meta.

Yeah, I saw those after I posted.  Some more nice terrain.

And I'm looking forward to S&S as well, both the Americans and Soviets need some new units to help mix things up.

I tried a Split Fromation Last week so I could bring more than one mech platoon on.   Got killed by swarms of BMP and 6 / /12 / 18 Infantry would not have done any different. Lol

Having not played TY since the scenario game last year (so my opinion may be very out of date), but I'm not a fan of the multiple formation thing.  I'll just stick to one formation and max out the units within.

Also for the TY scenario game in the winter, I plan to do what I've done for other FoW scenarios and have pre-made armies.  This should help fix some of the things I noticed at the last game, as well some other changes I plan to make.  I also plan to make unit cards and add some unique units in as well.

I was totally against the split formation.   But once I figured out this was the only way you can take 2 tank platoons and two infantry platoons, I had to give it a try.   For US lists you are so limited, and this just opened up a new window of oppurtunities,    Not sure I will try this on FOW, but for TY it helps..

I can understand that.  I guess since I've played more Soviets than US, and I'm able to stack everything I want into a single formation, I've never concerned myself with a second formation.

I did it a few times with my Germans before the second little book came out.  Now I have lots of options.

True.  Ze Germans get all the cool stuff.

On another note, RUMINT says that the T-64 front armor will be 17 and that combined with the missile launch capability and some other stats, might be less of a horde tank.

We all know Battlefront has that slight favoritism to the Axis...   LOL.

You mean the Axis who don't exist in TY?  There has been a lot of BF hate for the perceived shafting the Soviets and DDR units kept getting in terms of stats and abilities.

Also, anyone got T-55s/armed civilian models out there who might be around for the scenario game?  I've got a couple ideas for the scenario game, just need to know what would feasibly be available.
